The "Jog for The Jake", a 5K road race and Kids' Fun Run, was established in 2002 in memory of Dr. Lawrence D. Jacobs, Buffalo's world-renowned Multiple Sclerosis (MS) physician and researcher.

The purpose of the race is to celebrate Dr. Jacobs' life through a special, fitness-oriented event, designed for the whole family. Last year the race attracted over 1,000 runners and walkers for the 5K run and over 200 children for the Kids' Fun Run.

Over the past 5 years, the "Jog for The Jake" has raised over $610,000 for The Jacobs Neurological Institute to be used for neurological research. Western New York has a higher incidence of Alzheimer's, Epilepsy, Parkinson's, and Multiple Sclerosis than most parts of the United States. For the health of our community we need to continue research of these diseases. We would like to thank the community for it's continued dedication, and the generous support of our sponsors and partners, who that help make this race a Buffalo tradition.

Please join us on Sunday, June 15, 2008 for the 7th Annual Father's Day event - "Jog for The Jake"

Proceeds:

All proceeds from the race stay right here in Buffalo, and support the team that is working to make The Jacobs Neurological Institute a center of excellence.

Proceeds from last years race are currently funding research projects and patient care programs.

The Jog for the Jake Team would like to express a very special "Thank You!" to Katie Schneider for taking all of the wonderful photographs at the Jog for the Jake. (Katie Schneider Photography: 443 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14202 -716-923-7000)
